lauren: and europe, stocks open higher at the u.s.-china trade war could be averted for now. trying to japan's nikkei gave up three quarters of 1%. south korea renegotiated their trade deal with the united states. that certainly is part of the reason the kospi is up more than three quarters of a percent. stocks in china following, composite down more than 1%. lauren: facebook continues to do damage control. mark zuckerberg apologizing in this full-page newspaper ad. and they are asking for greater access to the chinese investment market for u.s. investors. your reaction. >> that makes a lot of sense. a 25% tariff on our cars are united states cars going into china, boulder 255% china for foreign cars coming in, then i think that it's completely fair. the negotiations are in the best interest of everybody. the chinese launch in oil futures today can benefit a lot from what they learn in the u.s. financial market. so i think that is something beneficial for both of us. we can't overreact to it happening. a slap on the race for both countries are $60 billion potential tariff of china in $3 billion retaliation. if china wants to give serious thought stock soybeans.

cheryl: lengthy piece in the journal. kelly wright, thank you very much. moving out of politics here at home. democrats are now losing their midterm edge over republicans according to a brand-new fox news poll, republicans have shrunk the lead to just 5% and that is down from 15% lead six months ago. what democrats fail to keep their edge over republicans keep gaining ground? seven months ago. get away in his white house deputy drug plate frame and democratic strategist antwan seabright. good morning. >> good morning. brad, want to start with you. we don't want to put too much onto this, but republicans have kind of shrunk and not only. what do you say to that? >> will come about as good news, but we are in political terms light years away. a lot can happen.

the north korean meeting. even a chance for legislation before they leave for the summer. perhaps i'm daca or restructure. look, history is against republicans. we lost 33 seats in the senate and 33 in the house, two in the senate. we can't afford those margins to keep control. not so much worried about the senate. we have to flip 24 seats in order to lose their majority. we are not prepared for that. we are going to fight very hard. republicans have to fight and that really concerns herself at the polls. these are local elections about turnout. cheryl: it can also be, as antjuan, but the economy. you may vote out way in the midterm election based on how you feel about the economy. the same fox news poll found only 47% now are nervous about

the economy. that is better than 61% in 2016. that wins the democrats were still running the white house. do you think the economic issue could be a problem for the dems? >> it always is. always the number one issue in an election cycle because people care about their quality of life. a couple things to keep in mind. number one, the devil is in the details when it comes to policy and polls. keep in mind, polls are simply a snapchat of the times. and the thing to keep in mind about polls, messenger is more important than message. i'm cautiously optimistic about her chances of regaining control of this country. republicans have one of the most toxic figures ever as a leader of the party right now and that is president donald trump and that will have major impact on how they perform in the elections coming up. cheryl: i don't disagree.

>> in the other thing to remember about the midterm election if this'll be the most consequential midterm election of my lifetime. up and down the ballot in special elections whether it's alabama, legislative seat trump won by 20 points, they'll have the momentum. >> on a minute left with you all. i want to ask you both about these run ops. i'll start with you on what's happening. you've got the republican versus jacky rosen democrat. that is of course a seat that was abandoned by a democrat. this is a senate race. do you feel you've got the edge in nevada? >> i do. again, i feel like the momentum is swinging the democrat away simply because how the republicans are handling the way they run the country. france will not let friends vote for the dangerous republican leadership. cheryl: you're making us both laugh. there was funny. i want to ask you about what's happening in arizona.

the jeff flake seat for senate. i can't wait for this one. martha mcsally, arpaio and kelsey ward. i mean, these are all three very controversial candidates. what you think is going on in arizona? >> i think arizona is unique. you've got three central casting figures battling it out for the republican nomination. i'm not concerned with arizona flipping. i think arizona will stay ruby red. in the gloom and doom that my friend is saying, it just isn't fair. we've got full employment in america. people are feeling good we have more money in their pockets. we've never been in a better economic position that we have under this president. midterms will turn on the economy and if it's as good today as it is in november, we will fare very well.

do that this morning unless it's twitter or link then you need. you are allowing access to other places to get your information. >> this comes from that. he writes we are also investigating every single app that had access to large amounts of data before we fix this. the apps in the advertising is how facebook makes their money. if we see heightened regulation and i just want to bring up that the ceo of apple and ibm are speaking about profound change be needed when we regulate social media companies. this could hurt facebook monetarily. >> definitely going to. how do they make money? this is going to affect all of them. i'm surprised tim cook said that because apple makes money on that, too. i was surprised to read that article. the fact is they have to do something.
